Foods and Shared Tables: Tasting Bali at Our Retreat

August, 2025

At our Sunset Pilates Retreat, food is as much a part of the journey as Pilates itself. From house-made meals in our retreat kitchen to carefully curated excursions to Bali’s best eateries, every bite nourished the body and connected guests to the island’s vibrant culinary culture.

Culinary Delights at Sunset Pilates Retreats

Our retreat kitchen is the heart of the week, where guests enjoyed meals made with care by our talented chef (popular on Instagram for her Balinese-inspired dishes). Highlights included:

Healthy Breakfasts & Smoothies – Each morning, guests fuelled up with colourful plates of papaya, dragon fruit, pineapple, and fresh coconuts. Food smoothies with spirulina, moringa, and cacao became a daily ritual, alongside Balinese tonics like Jamu for an energising start to the day.

Cooking Class: Traditional Balinese Dishes – Guests learned to prepare Sate Lilit and Sambal Matah, rolling, mixing, and tasting together. These sessions are more than cooking lessons; they will have joyful experiences, blending laughter, learning, and Balinese culinary tradition.

House-Made Lunches and Dinners – Plant-based and nourishing meals kept everyone energised for Pilates sessions and beach walks. The emphasis is on mindful eating, fresh ingredients, and balanced flavours.

Dining Adventures Around Bali

Beyond our retreat kitchen, we explored some of Bali’s most iconic food spots:

Made’s Warung – Guests enjoyed classic Balinese dishes that have been loved by locals and visitors for decades, showcasing the island’s rich culinary heritage.

Jimbaran Beach (Café Menega) – We savoured freshly grilled fish and seafood as the sun set over the ocean. Sharing meals on the sand added a sense of celebration and relaxation to the retreat.

Bali’s Food Scene

Throughout the retreat and excursions, guests discovered how Matcha and other organic Bali Foods are woven into daily life. Spirulina, moringa, turmeric, cacao, and coconut appeared in smoothies, teas, and snacks, supporting both wellness and sustainability. Traditional Balinese foods like red rice, fresh herbs, and jamu connected everyone to local healing practices and heritage.

Why Bali is a Food Heaven

Whether it is enjoying a cacao smoothie at the retreat, rolling Sate Lilit in the kitchen, or tasting Nasi Kuning at a local warung, Bali offered food experiences that nourished, energised, and inspired. Here, wellness and culinary culture are inseparable.
